Unrooted cuttings Vs. Rooted

By admin | December 20, 2007

So who roots their own and who buys in rooted liners?

As a propagation facility, we don’t have to worry about buying in liners but a lot of growers don’t have the facilities or abilities to prop their own vegetative annuals.

I’m wondering what percentage of growers buy in rooted liners vs. unrooted cuttings.

Does anyone have any data? Just curious.

We buy in all cuttings as rooted liners but grow almost all our own plugs (from seed) - except cyclamen. We don’t have the facilities to do rooted cuttings but I am looking at it in the future considering the amount of claims we had this year with our suppliers.

    We prop everything ourselves.

    Pats Fan,
Are you guys going undefeated? The Giants shouldn’t be too much trouble, right?

I’m sure you guys are busy sticking and sowing and germinating and rooting young plants, but there’s always time for football.

16-0 come Saturday night. We’ve won 18 in a row before, but a perfect season as you know, has not happened since the Dolphins. I’d much rather see us win another Super Bowl though.

Sticking is ramping up big time, yes. Spring production is right around the corner too. I love that we are on the upside of daylight now too.

Yes, the shortest day of the year is behind us and Tom Brady is Superman.
