Poinsettia Production Update
By admin | October 10, 2007
Our crops are coming along nicely and here is the visual evidence:
I am pretty happy with the status and quality of all our pot sizes but I have a few concerns.
1. Our calcium levels are low in our tissue samples and must be increased right away. I will change our fertilizer this week and this should solve some of this problem. I am planning to start our Calcium Chloride sprays next week as well. This is a few weeks earlier than I would normally start but I think it’s justified.
2. Our Whitefly population has increased a bit over the last few weeks and I must decide very soon whether or not to drench them. I had hoped to just use sprays as control but good coverage will become increasingly difficult in the coming weeks and I don’t want to be spraying this crop when the bracts are expanded and I’m close to shipping.
