Poinsettia Propagation. We’re Off Mist.

By admin | July 13, 2007

We are completely off mist for our first poinsettias stuck week 26. The roots are to the edge of the pot and we are working on bringing up the EC levels and maintaining uniformity. Because we have multiple plants per pot, it is important that we carefully ween the cuttings off the mist in case some of them are not fully rooted. Now we must slowly increase light levels and reduce the soil moisture to begin building a strong plant before pinching. I want to expand as many leaves as possible in the next few weeks and also keep the plants from stretching. I have started growth regulating with a low rate Cycocel spray (500ppm) to keep them more uniform and compact. So far, so good. We propagated with 99% success with our first batch so I couldn’t be more pleased. We’ll see if we can keep it up.
