Poinsettia Propagation.
By admin | June 25, 2007
And so it begins. Today we stuck our first cuttings into 10 inch pots. We are direct sticking five plants per pot and I expect good success with the cuttings we have received. They were in excellent shape when I opened the boxes. The coldpacks were still cold and the papertowels that the cuttings were wrapped in were still moist. I couldn’t ask for much more and I feel like we are off to a good start. I was taught many years ago to always use rooting hormone when propagating poinsettias. I use a 10% solution of Dip ‘N’ Grow as my rooting hormone and I feel this helps with uniformity and help the roots emerge from the callus a bit sooner which allows me to get the overhead mist off a little earlier. Of course I could try to prove my theory with a trial and lots of photos and data. I don’t know if I will be able to follow through with it but I am going to try. Tomorrow, I have more cuttings coming in so I’ll try to get some good pictures and perhaps start a trial or two.
